EASY DIY ART FOR STAGING YOUR HOME

May 13, 2013
After removing family photos from the walls in preparation for sale, you are often left with a lot of empty wall space. Instead of spending money on new art pieces to fill the voids, add interest back into your home with these 5 easy and inexpensive DIY art projects.
Tips:
  • Create a simple, bold palette (like turquoise and red or coral and gold) to accent your property, and stick to this palette throughout the house. Using color repetition will help create a sense of cohesion and will also help potential buyers remember your property.
  • When creating your artwork think about using bold graphic patterns (like on-trend chevrons or quatrefoils), abstract patterns, or universally appealing themes like nature (landscapes and botanicals). Steer clear of religious themes, phrases, and offensive subject matters.

1. Lay long pieces of painters tape in a random pattern on a white canvas (make sure to continue the tape over the sides of the canvas). Then simply paint over the tape (again, make sure to paint the sides of the canvas) . Let the paint dry completely before removing the tape.via pinterestvia pinterest
2. Grab a yard of your favorite fabric and a few different size canvases. Tightly wrap each canvas, stapling the fabric to the back side of the frame to secure it in place.via pinterestvia pinterest 3. Draw an abstract pattern with Elmer's glue onto any size canvas. Wait for the glue to dry, and then paint the whole thing one solid color. via pinterestvia pinterest
4. Paint 9 mini canvases in coordinating colors, then put them tightly together in a square. Next, use a squeeze bottle filled with white paint to swirl a fun, abstract design. Hang the pictures slightly apart as shown. via pinterestvia pinterest
5. Remove the backing and mat out of a frame and apply vinyl decals directly to the glass. Make sure the glass is secure in the frame before hanging.
